JANESVILLE, Wis. — A bicyclist died after being hit by a garbage and recycling truck in Janesville, according to the City of Janesville.

Janesville officials said at around 10:21 a.m. on Monday, June 30, authorities responded to the intersection of Milton Avenue and East Memorial Drive for the accident.

When police and the fire department arrived, they began life saving efforts on the cyclist. However, the cyclist died at the scene from their injuries.

During the response, the driver of the garbage and recycling truck remained on the scene, the city said.

For the time being, motorists are being asked to avoid the intersection where the incident happened.

Officials said the Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating.
