MILWAUKEE — For nearly 60 years now, Summerfest has brought millions of people to Milwaukee for what's dubbed "the world's largest music festival," and this year's three-weekend-run is all set to start when gates open Thursday morning.
"We literally have something for everyone," said Jerrod Woods, the senior director of marketing for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., which produces Summerfest. "Whether you're a fan of R&B or hip-hop or classic rock or country, we've got a great lineup at the American Family Insurance Ampitheater."
While festival goers can expect no shortage of annual traditions along the lakefront, everything from fantastic food to unending music, Woods said they work year-round to improve on previous festivals and add exciting new events.
"We've got free kayaking, which is going to be awesome," Woods said. "We've also got our Lexus Hole in One challenge which is obviously a fan-favorite, but in the second weekend we're actually going to do Glow Golf, so at night fans can take advantage of that and hit some balls in the dark."
