SANDUSKY, Ohio — This year marks the 30th year anniversary of the Sandusky-based film "Tommy Boy" and the city is preparing to celebrate the classic film with a festival.
Tommy Boy Fest will be celebrated Aug. 7-9 in the hometown of the fictional Callahan Auto Parts, makers of brake pads.

The festival kicks off with Destination Sandusky’s weekly Party at the Pier event Thursday at Jackson Street Pier. There will be an outdoor concert featuring The Menus, an Ohio rock band.
Several events will be held during the weekend include a downtown movie- and television-themed classic car show, outdoor screenings of "Tommy Boy" at Jackson Street Pier, character look-a-like contests, a "Tommy Want Wingy Throwdown," sponsored by Ability Works and a Sandusky "sights not seen in the movie" scavenger hunt.
Peter Segal, director of the film, will be in attendance and host a Q&A session. He will also bring his restored 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II GTX convertible, which was used in the movie, for photo opportunities.
Anyone local with the name Tom or Tommy, is invited to join a photo opp, according to a release.
Coinciding with the festival is the Small City Taphouse’s annual CLAG Brewing festival, which is set for Friday and Saturday. There will be live music, a street party, beer releases and more.
Tommy Boy Fest was created through the collaboration of the City of Sandusky, the Greater Sandusky Partnership, and Shores & Islands Ohio.
More information on the festival, including a full schedule, will be posted at TommyBoyFest.com.
