The Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show returned to the skies above the city Friday night for the 49th year.

More than 80,000 shells were used during the 25-minute show, launched from four barges in the East River and from the Brooklyn Bridge.

Thousands of visitors packed the Seaport and waterfront parks to catch a glimpse of the show.

Some said they came from across the country, while locals said they staked out spots for hours in advance to get a front-row view.

The display returned to the East River this year after having moved to the Hudson last year.
