Increasing haze and rising temperatures will reduce air quality Wednesday for southwest Ohio, including the Cincinnati and Dayton metro areas.

What You Need To Know

  • Expect reduced air quality Wednesday for southwest Ohio

  • An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Cincinnati and Dayton metro

  • High levels of ozone Wednesday are considered unhealthy for sensitive groups

The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency issued an Air Quality Alert for Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties through midnight.

There's also an Air Quality Alert until midnight for Miami Valley, including the following counties: Montgomery, Miami, Greene, Clark, Preble and Darke.

Children, adults and people with respiratory diseases should avoid outdoor exertion and limit time outdoors.

There are a few steps you can take to help reduce ozone formation:

  • Take the bus, carpool, bike or walk instead of driving
  • Refuel your vehicle after 8 p.m., and tighten the gas cap
  • Do not allow your vehicle to idle
  • Combine trips, or eliminate unnecessary vehicle trips
  • Conserve electricity

The wildfire smoke from the west has impacted our local air pollution with the region that may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

Expect improvements later this weekend as highs finally break out of the 90s and drop into the lower 80s.
