SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — May is National Pet Month, and Summit County is offering lowered adoption fees to encourage pet adoptions throughout the county.

"Studies show that interacting with animals is good for our health beyond just the love and compassion they bring out in us," County Executive Ilene Shapiro said in a news release.

Shapiro reduced adoption fees for dogs throughout the month of May to $28, normal adoptions cost $94 in the county.

All animals are micro-chipped, have been fully vetted, and are ready for their new homes. Vet treatments include bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spray or neuter and vaccinations.

Those who adopt a dog will also receive a 2025 Summit County Dog License.
