WORCESTER, Mass. – It’s early in the 2024 season, however, the WooSox are already getting their share of players on rehab assignments from the big club in Boston.

Outfielder Rob Refsnyder was one of those players who have spent some time at Polar Park with the WooSox.

Refsnyder suffered a toe injury early in the 2024 season.

He joined Worcester during their road trip in Syracuse and appeared in four games during this rehab stint.

In addition to getting physically better, Refsnyder, typically an outfielder, worked out during his time in Worcester at first base.

We caught up with him before his recall to Boston on Thursday.

He addressed working out at a new position and returning to Worcester.

“I was just rehabbing in Syracuse, so it’s nice to be back in the Woo. And I feel good,” said Refsnyder. “We got some injuries at the big-league level. We’re mixing and matching a little bit, so it’ll probably just be more for an emergency. Figured I’d just get my feet wet just in case. Love the city, I was here in 2022. Obviously, I think it’s one of the best ballparks in Triple-A. Great community, great front office, great player development. I really, really enjoy it here. Everyone was great to me and my family, so it’s great to be back.”

In the last two seasons in Boston, Refsnyder has played in 148 games, hitting seven home runs.

The WooSox homestand versus the Durham Bulls continues through Sunday.
