Skies across Louisville have maintained a bit of a hazy glow for the past several days.

What You Need To Know

  • Smoke continues to travel from the west

  • Hazy skies still linger across Louisville

  • Air Quality Alerts are in effect

You may be wondering what is to blame for the not-so-blue skies and vivid sunsets. Well, the answer is smoke particles from the wildfires across the western U.S. and southern Canada.

Strong winds higher in the air have delivered some smoke and dust from the fires into our skies. This, along with normal pollution from the city, is what's responsible for the Air Quality Alert issued on Wednesday, July 28.

Those sensitive to certain allergens and aerosols should remain cautious when spending extra time outdoors.

The smoke is slowly clearing, but it may still be a few weeks until it leaves the Kentucky skies.
