CINCINNATI — Boone County Water Rescue announced late Monday it had recovered the driver of a motorcycle who went over the bridge and into the Ohio River due to an accident a few days ago.

Boone County Water Rescue said on Saturday around 8 p.m., a motorcyclist collided with another car traveling north on the Taylor Southgate Bridge. The driver of the motorcycle was then thrown over the side of the bridge and into the Ohio River. 

The incident happened while Boone County Water Rescue was performing a scheduled patrol. The team said when the motorcyclist fell in, two witnesses jumped into the water to try to save the driver. Those two witnesses were rescued by the patrol team and were transferred to the Cincinnati Fire Department to receive care. 

That same night, Boone County Water Rescue deployed sonar operations as well as visual search efforts. The search was halted at 1 a.m. Sunday. 

Search operations then resumed both Sunday morning and Monday morning. 

Boone County Water Rescue said around 5:40 p.m. Monday, the victim was recovered near the John A. Roebling Bridge. The victim was then transferred to the Campbell County Coroner's Office. 

"Our team asks that you keep the victim’s family in your thoughts," Boone County Water Rescue said in a release. "To respect their privacy, the identity of the victim will not be released."
