LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A run of 10 increases in 11 days totaling 6 cents that boosted the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its highest amount since Dec. 14 ended Sunday when it dropped two-tenths of a cent to $4.56.

The average price is 3.8 cents more than one week ago and 10.2 cents higher than one month ago, but 10.9 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.934 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.

The Orange County average price dropped for the second consecutive day following a 10-day streak of increases totaling 6.7 cents that boosted it to its highest amount since Dec. 12, dropping three-tenths of a cent to $4.492. It is 4.2 cents more than one week ago and 11.3 cents higher than one month ago, but 16.2 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.967 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5.

A 17-day streak of increases to the national average price totaling 24.3 cents ended when it decreased one-tenth of a cent to $3.509. It is 9.4 cents more than one week ago, 35 cents higher than one month ago and 14.8 cents greater than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.507 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.
